Sensei's Divining Top

Sensei's Divining Top

"Sensei's Divining Top generated significant controversy through both its power level and its detrimental effect on match length. The six-month trial period following its unbanning demonstrated no positive contributions to format health. Instead, the artifact simply amplified already-dominant strategies.

The card's presence extended game duration beyond acceptable limits while providing excessive card selection to decks that required no additional consistency. Rather than enabling new archetypes or increasing diversity, Top merely strengthened existing tier-one strategies, further cementing their dominance.

The experiment conclusively proved that Top's negative impacts—time consumption and power concentration—outweighed any theoretical benefits.

Key ban reasons:

  • Significantly extends match duration
  • Amplifies already-dominant strategies
  • Provides excessive card selection at minimal cost
  • Failed to demonstrate any positive format impact during trial
  • Concentrates power in existing top-tier decks
  • Creates negative play experience through time issues

Sensei's Divining Top must be banned again to restore reasonable match lengths and prevent dominant strategies from gaining additional consistency tools."
