Duel Commander: Where We Stand

Duel Commander: Where We Stand

Dear Duel Commander players,

A lot has happened over the past few days, and for those of you who are having trouble keeping up, here's a brief summary. Please feel free to share this with anyone still asking questions about the current state of affairs.

What's certain

  • All Regional Coordinators have joined us and are working with their local communities to explain and reassure everyone. If you need more information, you can contact your Regional Coordinator—their names are listed here
  • Biquettes, the largest DC Discord server with almost 5,000 members, is following our banlist
  • Relic TCG, organizer of the largest DC event with nearly a thousand players at their main event, has publicly stated they will follow our banlist for their events
  • Scryfall, and consequently Moxfield (which uses their API for format validity), have confirmed they will follow us.
  • Fanfinity, organizer of the DC Spotlight in Lyon (an officially Wizards-sanctioned event), will host an official DC event following our banlist
  • Daybreak, publisher of Magic Online, has stated that following an overwhelming response from the community, they will follow our banlist going forward
  • Several news websites have published articles about the recent announcement, either referencing only our B&R, or referencing both but noting that ours is now considered the official one

What's uncertain

  • MTGPrime has not yet chosen a banlist and has stated that each tournament organizer for the French circuit will need to decide which format they want for their event. The format for the finals has not been determined yet
  • Mtgtop8 has not officially taken a side, but appears to be publishing lists using our banlist, as we can find a top featuring Breya as a commander

These announcements have been significant and validate both the work done over the past two months to ensure the format's longevity and the immense community support we have received. This trust and hard work come with responsibility, and rest assured that we are fully aware of it: to provide you with the best gaming environment and continue developing this format that brings us all together.

Wanna help us ? You can !

Reassure players who may be feeling uncertain after the latest announcement; the only things that have changed are the communication channels. The team remains the same, and the decision-making process and direction taken are unchanged. Share the address of the new website, join our Discord server, follow us on Facebook, and spread the word about us.

Warmest regards to you all,

The Duel Commander Committee
